Museum Exhibits & Replicas
Museums protect originals and still need to show them. Royal Foam Art Design makes museum exhibit replicas, reproductions of artifacts, models and scenic displays that let visitors see, touch and understand objects without risk to the original.
What we reproduce
Replicas of antiquities include statues, reliefs, columns, tablets, tools, skeletons, architectural fragments and scale models of buildings. Reproduction museum exhibits can also be life-size scenes, dioramas, dinosaur and animal figures, and educational pieces for touch tables. For temporary exhibits, a replica can stand in for a loan that is too fragile or too valuable to travel, and for permanent galleries it allows a complete set of objects.
Accurate and safe
We work from museum data: 3D scans, photographs, measurements and curator notes. CNC cutting and hand sculpting reproduce the shape, and scenic artists match the color, patina and surface texture of the original. Foam is much lighter than stone or plaster, so replicas can be mounted on walls and shipped easily, and the coating makes them durable enough for hands-on use. Replicas can be built to meet the museum's rules for materials and labeling, and we can add stands, mounts and cases.
Where they are used
Museums, science centers, universities, heritage sites, visitor centers and traveling exhibitions.
Exhibit design also depends on how visitors move around a piece. We advise on scale, mounting height, sight lines and labeling, and we can prepare replicas in different finishes for the same object, such as a clean display copy and a rugged touch copy. Replicas ship in protective crates with handling guidance for the registrar.
Ordering
Send the object data, scans or photos, the dimensions and the use. We prepare a proposal with a sample for the curator's approval, produce the replica and arrange freight across the United States. Our work carries a 20-year warranty.
