Sandblasted and V carved signs have the look of a traditional lodge, park or estate sign: deep letters, textured backgrounds and a natural, handcrafted feel. Royal Foam Art Design makes sandblasted foam signs and V carved signs that reproduce this style with a lighter, longer-lasting material.
What these signs are
A sandblasted sign has a textured surface where abrasive media has worn away the softer grain, leaving raised lettering and borders with depth. Sandblasted wood signs, such as sandblasted cedar signs, give a rustic, weathered effect. A V carved sign has letters cut with a V-shaped bit so each stroke has angled sides and a sharp center line, which catches the light. Sandblasted HDU signs use a dense synthetic board to get a similar effect with better durability.
Our foam approach
We use CNC cutting on high-density foam and apply texture, depth and a polyurea hard coat to reproduce sandblasted and V carved effects. The finished custom sandblasted signs can imitate cedar, redwood, stone or aged metal, and the weight is much lower than a solid wood sign. Foam does not split, rot or attract insects, and the coating resists moisture and UV. A family name sign, a ranch entrance, a park sign, a lodge sign or a custom carved sign for a business can use the same method.
Design
Typical designs have a textured background, raised or recessed letters, borders and small ornaments such as pine trees, mountains or logos. We can paint letters in gold, cream or dark colors and lights can be added.
Weathering effects are part of the character. We can build in a light wash, aged edges and a subtle grain, so a new sign blends with a rustic setting from the first day, and we can leave the surface more refined for a modern lodge or resort. A color sample helps you choose between natural, dark and painted looks before production.
